Sunday night saw us in the Blue Mountains for a house concert. A fabulous setting, an absolutely gorgeous house surrounded by trees, and a lovely bunch of people for the afternoon.
The idea is that the host publicises the concert locally, limits the numbers according to the size of the room, and usually puts on some sort of afternoon tea (in this case, magnificent scones). The performers play in an informal setting which allows for great interactions and a true "right there in the lounge-room" experience for the audience.
There's a growing house-concert movement in the USA and across Canada and we'd love to see this model develop here.
